If I had it to do over, however, I would choose a permeable surface, or maybe leave things as they were. But at the time I wanted everything perfect, and I didn't realize how large an area drains into that lot. Also, the slight slope of the lot directs the flow to the corner nearest my house, which has resulted in basement water problems when we have a major deluge. I've had the old brick foundation patched and coated with Dry-Lok, which definitely helped. I have seen moisture on the floor in only one place since then. So, so far, so good, but we haven't had really torrential rain lately. So, I have my fingers crossed!
