In 1981, The Great Western Tile Company, a family owned and operated business was founded by visionary Steve Chirico. In 1984, The Great Western Tile Company was incorporated into what is now known as The Great Western Flooring Company.
Steve's passion, hard work, and dedication to the flooring industry and Great Western Flooring Co. led to the rapid success of the business, not only by becoming one of the most prestigious design centers in Chicago, but by also securing valuable partnerships with the country's largest and most elite flooring industry companies and manufacturers.
They never charged our down payment so our three week quote turned into a four week quote after we inquired why they hadn’t taken our money. Strike one. The other guys said two weeks!
During the quote we were told that our pet stained boards were beyond repair and unless we went really dark (not the plan) 50-75sqft would be replaced. when they came and sanded again “these boards won’t look right unless replaced” “yeah that’s what they said at the quote”. After all is said and done, no boards replaced. We asked once and the sales rep said they decided they looked fine. Pushed back that they do not and We were told WE ASKED NO BOARDS BE REPLACED. Who?! WHO?! Would say yes leave these ugly, damaged boards. Strike two.
Then I found the gap compound in my baby’s mouth. And I asked if it was normal. Don’t you know the people who JUST redid my floors said it wasn’t their work and that the breaking gap filler is from the old boards. You mean the ones you chose not to replace!!?
I don’t appreciate being called a liar. I don’t appreciate a complete disregard for the agreed upon work. I regret my choice to spend $10k with great western flooring.

The installers of Great Western Flooring damaged my 2-week old newly refinished wood floor with a deep 4-foot scratch and also dented a wooden door. GWF accepted the responsibility; but the damage was severe as the repair did not remove the scratch. GWF REFUSED to assist further as this is an inconvenience which is part of the remodeling process.
Here is their verbatim: “At the end of the day, we always do our best to make the remodeling process as seamless and enjoyable as we can for our customers. However, in virtually all cases, they experience inconvenience that is sometimes preventable, but often times not. Either way, inconvenience is part of any remodeling job.”
So do you want them in your home to do damage and walk away stating it’s just an inconvenience to be expected during remodeling?
