I bought what I was told was a brand new HVAC system from Reliable in July 2020. I was quoted for a Trane Air Handler and Trane Heat Pump, but they installed a Trane and Goodman mismatch - for the same price as the original quote. I've had nothing but issues since the second year of having the unit, and have had to call for service several times in the time span of a few years. The labor warranty recently expired in July after 5 years. When I switched the unit to heat a few weeks ago, it was not working, so I called again for service. There was no pressure in the heat pump which means there is a leak somewhere in one of the units. I was told that a leak test would need to be done for $400 and the possible causes would run me about $2300- $4600 to repair. I declined the service and got a second opinion from a different company. They came to do the leak test and it was determined that the leak is coming from the air handler and I would need to replace the coil. The price difference is a bit extreme. The tech also told me that I shouldn't be having these problems from a unit that is only 5 years old, but this can happen when units are mismatched - the system doesn't work efficiently. I will be reaching out to the corporate office regarding this matter.

I just need to voice my bad experience with Reliable. They came out on 11/13 for a outdoor leak related to my hot water heater. I told them I may have warranty. They insisted that they could put in a new one and would send me a quote. I never recieved the quote. That friday I reached out to the company that built HWH , they gave me return # to have new water heater put in under warranty, and for me to call a plumber , that I would be responsible for labor fees. On Monday I reached out Reliable again to see if they would pick up and install new water heater . With a return call , I it would be $1800 for labor. I told him thats the cost for heater, it doesnt make sense. It was obvious the tech was lying but why such a high labor fee. Even on 1st visit it seemed as if he didnt care or want to help. I dont know if the company knows the tech's (Blake) tactics but Im hoping my review will make them aware. I wanted to give them my business as I had in the past but I will never call Reliable again due Blake's greed, attitude and demeanor and I will tell all my neighbors and friends not to do business with RELIABLE, because they are NOT relliable but are greedy liars.

1-star rating AVOID – $1,110 for less than 4 hours and $100 in parts. First visit 100% unnecessary + no accountability Saturday: Electric hot water heater not heating consistently. Tech #1 arrived Sunday morning – on time and professional. Charged $860 to replace two standard heating elements (Home Depot: $25–35 each). He tested thermostats and said they were fine. Heater failed again Monday morning. Tech #2 arrived Tuesday. Immediately diagnosed the upper thermostat as the actual problem and replaced both (Home Depot: ~$50 for both). He had the nerve to quote me over $600 – as if the first $860 visit had never happened. After I objected, manager finally approved $250. Total: $1,110 for less than 4 hours and ~$100 in parts. The first visit was 100% unnecessary – the elements were not the issue. I paid $860 for work that did nothing because the technician failed to diagnose the real cause. The company should have fixed it for the cost of parts (or free) on the second call. Instead, they tried to charge full price again. Now it works, but only after two service calls and 10× retail prices for basic DIY parts. DIY if you can. This company charges premium rates with zero accountability for failed diagnostics.

Jackson serviced my heating system today. Very quick and professional (didn’t even have to ask him to put on shoe covers). But more than that, a straight up honest professional which is so rare today. Once he entered my property, I told him the issue I was having (heat works for a few days, then doesn’t for a few days…basically on and off every few days). He quickly asked if the filter had been changed and stated that could be one of the things it does when it’s basically dirty. Long story short, though the heat was working today, he changed my filter and cleaned my flame sensor. I’ll know if that was the issue within a week I suppose, because with the system working today, he couldn’t replicate the issue to be sure that was the issue. Lastly, I asked Jackson if he saw any mold in or near my unit and he said “nope, everything looks pretty good.” Jackson didn’t know the below. Wednesday, CoolRay Heating and Air came out. I was shown pictures of mold and rust and stated my system needed cleaning bad. I was quoted (verbally), $1700 to clean it, and $2500 to clean it and add some microbial stuff to clean the mold. I stated I’d get a second opinion and for him to send me everything in an invoice. To my surprise, he stated “yeah the basic cleaning is like I said $900 but I’ll send the invoice and pictures to you.” The figure of $900 never left his mouth. I’m not sure if the fib was to get the service fee or a tactic to scare me about the mold that I would act hastily…but to misquote to pocket anything is disgusting! And to think, I only needed my filter changed. Sad times. Thanks Jackson and Reliable Heating and Air…I will NEVER use anyone else.

TL:DR Took Reliable 4 days to get me hot water and three weeks and 5 phone calls to call me back about what looked like a duplicate $265 charge. 10/5 Appointment because my tankless water heater stopped working. Plumber flushed the system, but that did not help. He said he’d have to call the manufacturer to assess the problem and they (Rheem) weren’t open on Sundays. When asked, he was sketchy on why he had to call Rheem to simply assess the problem. 10/6 Plumber assessed the problem, couldn’t get part. Gave me a link and I had to order it from Amazon. Plumber said to call when I had the part. 10/7 1:00PM - I called to say I had the part and was informed the same plumber had to come back out to install and he couldn’t do it until the next day. Was given zero reason when I asked why it had to be the same plumber. 10/8 Plumber came out to install part and said “hopefully this works”. I responded “me, too since we are on day 4”. He responded smugly that he told me the fastest way to get hot water would have been replacement (which he’d estimated at around $6k and my current water heater is only 3 years old.) 10/14- Realize I have been charged $265 for both 10/6 and 10/8. The plumber had only told me about the first $265 charge. I hadn’t signed for the second. Called to ask for receipts that had not been emailed as promised and ask about charge and was told it did look like a duplicate charge but they’d have to check with the plumber. Give them 24 hours. Only get receipts for 10/5 and 10/8. 10/17 Call back. Am told there are no notes in the file, given them until Monday. 10/21 Call back. Am told I will receive a call back. Never receive a call. File dispute with credit card. 11/4-Credit card says there is not enough evidence to dispute. Reliable only has a customer service phone number. No email. Call Reliable back. Am told again I will receive a call. I do not receive a call. 11/6 Call back. Am told yet again they’ll call me back. I do receive a call back to be told that the assessment was one $265 charge, the install of the part I had to order myself was another $265. They had charged my card on file for 10/8 without me signing for it, so apparently pulled my signature from the previous charge as well.
