We recently used Jones to replace some broken septic drain lines. This involved demo of the concrete basement floor, excavation of the pipes, replacement, and pouring concrete.
Jesse was great to work with throughout, quote was clear and fair. They found additional problems once into the project but again communicated throughout and gave options with a fair and honest assessment. Finished project looks good and most importantly works! Highly recommend.

Great service and great humans! They replaced our main sewer and then some in a very timely manor. Our house was full of suprises, mysteries and complications, yet the work was all done so well. We are truly greatful for Jones Excavating and Plumbing right now. They even corrected what a previous company did a few weeks ago. Thank you for getting us our house back!!

Jones plumbing came out to look at the water issue in our basement. They scheduled a date and gave us a quote. They randomly called week later and said they could come that day, gave us a different higher quote, and before we could confirm, told us they couldn't even do the job. They never called back or never showed up.

Frequently Asked Questions About Jones Excavating & Plumbing
How do I know if my septic system is certified?
During sale or title transfer, the septic system may need to be upgraded to make the system compliant per Colorado's code. Check with your local government unit for their property disclosure requirements. To find out whether or not your system is compliant, call us for a tank certification.
Why is my septic system failing?
There are many reasons why a septic system may start to fail. Routine pumping (every 2 or 3 years) and proper care will help with the longevity of your system. While there are several signs of a failing system, the most prominent sign is effluent surfacing in the drain field area.
If I need a new septic system, where do I start?
To start the process of installing a new septic system, you need to obtain a design/site plan. The site plan is used by system installers to create a proposal on the work to be performed, based on specifications per Colorado code. Give us a call and we'll walk you through the whole process.
Should I repair or replace my water heater?
If your water heater is less than 10 years old and in good condition overall, repairing it may be your most cost-effective solution. If it’s older than 10 years or has not been maintained well, replacing it with a more energy-efficient model might be your best bet. Give us a call today for a professional recommendation. Scheduling annual maintenance on your water heater will help extend its lifetime
Water heater replacement may be needed for the following reasons:
- Leaks: Sometimes, older water heaters leak around the base of the tank.
- Age: Water heaters may need to be replaced if they are older than 8 to 12 years. This also depends on the water heater’s design, how well it was installed, regular preventative maintenance, and where it is located in the building.
- Energy costs: Newer water heaters tend to be much more energy efficient than older models. This can save the homeowner hundreds in energy costs over the span of a year.
Does my water heater require maintenance?
For tank and tankless water heaters, regular maintenance can extend how long yours lasts. Vital components, such as pilot lights and anodes, should be repaired or replaced on a regular basis to keep water heaters in top running order. Once a year, you should also flush your water heater to remove any rust or sediment buildup. We offer high-quality water heater repair services that can help you save money on costly water heater replacement projects.
What type of water heater is right for me?
There are a variety of water heaters available, and each one has its benefits and potential drawbacks. Whether you are looking for an upgrade or a replacement, call us to get a professional recommendation and installation of the best water heater for you.
Here’s a little bit about each style of water heater:
Tankless Water Heaters
A tankless water heater uses heated coils to heat water as needed, rather than relying on a supply of water in a tank. This type of water heater heats water quickly and is a great option for families who may need to take a shower, run the dishwasher, and do laundry all at the same time. Tankless water heaters use 40% less energy than traditional tank water heaters. The average life expectancy is 20 years with regular maintenance.
Conventional Storage Tank Water Heater
A conventional storage tank water heater is the most popular type of water heater. Water is heated and held in an insulated tank. The amount of hot water available at one time is determined by the size of the tank. Smaller tanks may run out of hot water more frequently, leaving family members to wait for the next tank of water to heat up. The average life expectancy is 8 to 10 years
Solar-Powered Water Heater
A solar-powered water heater is a good option for homes that already have solar panels installed. This type of water heater is extremely energy efficient and works well in sunny climates. Solar-powered water heaters do usually need a backup plan for cloudy days, though. Gas or electricity are typically used to power the water heater when sun is not available to do the job.
Condensing Water Heater
A condensing water heater uses the unused gas fumes from a home to heat water. This is a good option for gas-powered homes. It is a very energy-efficient water heater. Condensing water heaters, like conventional storage water heaters, use a tank to hold heated water. So, the tank should be large enough for the size of the family using it.
Heat Pump Water Heater
A heat pump water heater or hybrid water heater uses heat from the ground and air to heat water. This type of water heater uses up to 60% less electricity than traditional water heaters. Heat pump water heaters do not work well if installed in cold places such as basements. Though a homeowner can expect to save money on electricity costs, the upfront cost of a heat pump water heater is more expensive than other types of water heaters.
What are the signs that I need to replace my sewer lines?
- High water/sewer bills
- Frequent drain clogs
- Odor coming from the drain
- Low water pressure
- Water running, even when turned off
- Slow-draining shower, sink, or tub
- Drain clogs in multiple areas of the home
- Gurgling sink or shower drains
- Pipe bursting
How can I determine if my septic system is certified according to Colorado's code?
You should check with your local government unit for property disclosure requirements during sale or title transfer. You can also call us for a tank certification to find out if your system is compliant.
What are common reasons for septic system failure?
Septic systems may fail due to lack of routine pumping every 2-3 years and improper care. A key sign of failure is effluent surfacing in the drain field area.
What steps should I take if I need to install a new septic system?
Start by obtaining a design/site plan that meets Colorado code. Contact us and we'll guide you through the entire process including system installation proposals.
When should I consider repairing or replacing my water heater?
If your water heater is under 10 years and well maintained, repair might be best. For water heaters over 10 years or poorly maintained, replacement with an energy-efficient model is recommended. Contact us for a professional evaluation.
Does my water heater require regular maintenance?
