- JBJean BeechDec 15, 20255.0The ceiling light in our kitchen kept going on/off....then mostly off. I called several companies but I got a faster response from Vancity. Like the others, I was told it was a 2-3 week wait. If it wasn't for under counter lighting I would be cooking in the dark. I am sorry I don't remember the name of the woman I was speaking to but she went looking for a technician close to our home. Dustin was in North Vancouver and he was over in about 30 minutes to check it out. We had thought it might be the switch itself, or the fixture. He did some work (switch, I think) and it looked fixed. 10 minutes after he was gone the problem was back. I called Vancity and Dustin came back and ascertained that the problem was the fixture and the fault lay with the contractor who installed it two years ago. He attempted a fix but it was apparent we needed a new light fixture. We found a replacement and I cooked in semi-darkness for a few days until Dustin could return. WE HAVE LIGHT!!!!! The company was responsive, helped us quickly (not 2-3 weeks) Dustin was terrific -which is why we asked for him to return to install the light. Even our very shy cat decided he was alright. You can't go wrong with Vancity

Edit as of Dec 23 2025. Hired Vancity Electric again but this time for a larger list of electrical work, this time with Andrew. Andrew is the man! He did excellent work and got it done quick. There was some trouble shooting we had to do for a unique electrical scenario and Andrew made it happen. Can't recommend these guys enough.
