  My garage door spring broke over the weekend and most companies were closed. A1 was available, but refused to give any pricing over the phone, insisting a technician had to come out first. That should have been my first red flag. Once the technician arrived, the sales pitch began. I was told there were three different spring options—each absurdly expensive. Then after taking the door apart, suddenly the drums needed to be replaced. Then the bearings were “bad.” Then—of course—the motor was supposedly failing and needed replacement too. That motor alone? Another $2,000 quote. After the fact, I contacted multiple independent garage door companies. Every single one told me the springs A1 sold me should cost $100–$200 per spring, not the $800 per spring I was charged and $300 of bearings on top "Shop supplies" This is a textbook bait-and-upsell operation. They find new “problems” only after everything is taken apart, trapping the homeowner into approving outrageously overpriced work. Hands down the most predatory service experience I’ve ever had. Do not use A1 without multiple quotes. If you value honesty, transparency, and fair pricing, look elsewhere.

  Robert was fantastic. He quickly fixed our garage door (our remote matched a neighbor’s system), lubricated the door so it’s no longer noisy, and took the time to explain everything in a clear, non-technical way I could actually understand. I also really appreciated that he didn’t try to pressure me into buying anything unnecessary. Just honest, helpful service. Highly recommend.

  A1 came out to give an estimate on my garage door fix. The estimate came to over a thousand dollars, but if I had the repair done on the day they came out it would be a little over eight hundred dollars. Who knows what the real cost is. Since I refused to have work done at that time, they send me a bill for them coming out to give an estimate. If they would have been upfront about charging me for their estimate, I would have not had them come out. I would be very cautious about using A1 Door Service. In fact I got my door repaired by another company for $700.00.

  Andrew provided us with excellent quality and friendly service. We had our garage break on New Years Day and Andrew showed up within hours of us requesting service. He was very thorough in his inspection and knowledgeable when he was giving us his analysis. He took the time to explain the repairs that were required and broke it down into categories of what is needed for immediate repair and what would be coming up soon based on the current condition. He took the time to make sure all of my questions were answered and I understood how everything functioned.

  One of our garage doors would not open and the other was making a terrible noise. Andrew arrived promptly the morning after I made the appointment online and evaluated our 20 year old system. He was very knowledgeable and walked us through all of the options based on our usage. We ended up having him replace motors and springs on both doors and result was impressive! We are so pleased with the decision to use A1 Garage Door and felt fortunate to work with such a professional! Thanks, Andrew!
