- TWTroy WobschallMay 8, 20231.0I am blown away that people have actually had friendly service here. We bought our house and within a few weeks we had notice our mailbox needed to be redone (height, distance from curb). Nothing had changed since before we bought the house, prior owners had it up for years. I asked my wife to ask them to hold our mail, which they did. I pulled the mailbox out but couldn't get a new one installed, the ground was still frozen. Monday of last week my wife swings by to get the mail, they tell her our new mailbox needs to by the end of the week or else they are going to start returning it. I got the mailbox up on Saturday, sure that would cover us. My wife stops by this AM, they said the mailbox wasn't up by the end of the week, so they returned our mail... She asks what the end of the end of the week means to them...it supposedly the end of the postal week, Friday at 4!! They seemed almost happy they returned the mail. We have gone digital on most things but since my wife's father passed several items are being forwarded to us...since they don't really care what the public thinks they don't have a reason to truly perform customer service.

The employees are well trained and fast, unlike many other Post Offices in the surrounding area. I live in a nearby town but I still prefer to bring my packages to Elba to be mailed because I know that they will not take all day to complete the process. Thanks! Update: Original personnel have left and have caused a major change in the day to day operations at this Post Office so I have to revise my ratings to 2 Star only. The window clerk is not well trained and cannot do simple package mailings. The "Post Master" needs to be replaced.
