- OOOhGodYesApr 15, 20241.0So I used First American for my very first home purchase back in April of 2021. I was getting the mortgage in my name and First American gave us the date of our signing. They requested both my spouse and I show up to sign papers. We were excited and showed up and we signed a bunch of papers and everything seemed fine. Fast forward a year and come to find out they had my wife sign some paperwork taking her of the house or not putting her on the title of the house. I did not request this at all however it was not explained at the time of signing what my wife was signing off on. This has caused many many arguments over the years with my wife and I because it looks like I went behind her back and asked first American to secretly include those documents. This is a highly unethical practice. Possibly illegal? Can a representative please explain the reasoning why you would do this to your clients. What is the point?!
