- DHDanielle HaraburdaJan 7, 20251.0FAHW My realtor wanted to protect my interests when I bought my condo and made sure I had a home warranty from First American Home Warranty, last October. All I can say is that I’m glad I wasn’t the one who paid for this scam. The blower motor on my AC unit went out on July 1, 2024. I immediately made a claim and FAHW and they sent a technician from Anthem out to my condo to diagnose the issue. They told me it would be 3-4 weeks. The thing is though, I called 3 different AC service companies in Palm Springs and they ALL said that the part was available—not just a universal part, but 2 of them had actual original parts from TRANE. FAHW though, told me that my 7 year old AC had an “obsolete” part that had to be hand made. After 4 weeks, I started calling daily. My Claim Specialist, Byron, started pretending that he couldn’t hear me on the phone when I’d get through to him. Every single time he answered the phone, he’d start yelling “HELLO? HELLO?” and claim he couldn’t hear me, then hang up. Finally, at 6 weeks, Byron, left me a message and said that they could not provide the part that I needed and would reimburse me if I’d like to find another company to fix the problem. “Thank god!” I thought. Imagine my surprise when after spending 3k to fix the problem, FAHW sent me a check for $715.44. Now they won’t pay the rest. They said I “chose” to pick another company. I believe this company knows that most folks aren’t going to be able to handle the heat during an AC breakdown like this, and they intentionally make the process as difficult and long as possible so that they don’t have to take care of their customers. They clearly withheld a widely available part from me and absolutely no part of their decision process was about my health or safety.
