We just closed escrow with First American Title Company in Corona, and I feel compelled to share our experience. Our escrow officer, Delilah Vasquez, was extremely rude, disrespectful, and combative throughout the process—particularly with the buyer’s lender. The only issue seemed to be that the buyer chose his own lender instead of using the builder’s “preferred” lender. That type of pressure feels like redlining and is not only unethical but should be illegal. Because of the way this escrow was handled, the transaction was unnecessarily delayed. Our buyer was forced to stay in a hotel for five extra days—an expense and stress that could have been avoided if the escrow officer had simply done her job in a timely manner. Balancing a file is basic accounting; it should not have caused this much chaos or hostility. If I, as an agent, ever told my buyers they had to use a specific lender or else they wouldn’t get the home or credits, I would risk losing my license. Yet, in this case, a large corporation seemed to think it was acceptable to bully and punish buyers for exercising their right to choose their lender. That double standard is disturbing. I would not recommend working with this office or escrow officer. Professionalism, respect, and efficiency are essential in escrow, and unfortunately, none of those were demonstrated here.

Very poor service. Took forever to answer, and Chrissy Massenzo was very rude, took forever to answer the phone, and I had to call three times. The way that she answered me was arrogant and rude towards me. Please, if you can avoid this company, please do. I don’t have a choice because they work with KB Homes.

Worst title experience ever…..i have left 6 message as the title company owes me over $3400 in overage funds. I would like everyone to know this experience so you do not have to go through this. When buying a new home request to use your own title insurance company. You have the right. I will be notifying the proper regulating authorities to report this unethical business practice.

Poor communication and no follow up on documentation that dictates how a customer wanted to obtain their proceeds. Escrow officer is just way too busy to call me back though, just so so busy taking multiple days to balance a Closing Disclosure on a VA loan that had almost no fee changes from a Closing Disclosure a month ago, creating an extremely tight deadline where the file was and should've been a slam dunk. It wasn't a slam dunk by these idiots. We waited until the LAST day to get documents, creating the impression we could have had a delay in closing. Sonya, if I tell you I want to come to your office and get my check, that doesn't mean mail it to me from your corporate headquarters in Arizona, which can take upwards of over a week. How about I charge you per day interest on my $8,000 since I had to wait several days after a stop on the original check? That seem fair?

Have gone through many many real estate transactions. So I know title companies. And I have never had such a pitiful experience than with this one in Coronado. Apparently Ms. Grumpypants who answers the phone hates her job and anything related to customer service. Sorry, did I interupt your donut break? And it's really sad because I'm sure this isn't what the rest of the office is like. Right?
