I am extremely disappointed by my experience at this establishment and am sharing this so other women can make an informed decision.
Over a year ago, I began coming here based on a personal recommendation. While the staff was generally pleasant, multiple services were incomplete, with hair and wax left behind. I continued giving the business chances. 🚩 As I became increasingly pregnant, I continued coming in and was eventually paired with a waxer who was more technically skilled, though very slow. After relocating to McKinney, I informed my waxer that I would be switching to the northern location, only to later learn that location had closed.🚩 Despite the drive, I continued going to the DeSoto location. Shortly before delivery, I asked whether I should cancel my membership. I was advised instead to pause 🚩it so I could retain the packages I had already purchased. Although hesitant, I followed that guidance. Six months later, I received a call encouraging me to return before my packages expired. I scheduled an appointment and drove from MCKINNEY to DeSoto. Although I was running late, I called ahead and was told it was fine to still come in. As soon as I arrived, I was immediately told I could not be serviced because I had my baby with me. I was stunned!!!!!! Again, MCKINNEY TO DESOTO!!! I even went so far to ask this girl if I could bring my baby’s car seat into the lobby while I was serviced, given the distance I had just driven. I was repeatedly just told no, with her mentioning liability and a policy that children are not allowed in the building. There was no flexibility, no alternative offered, and no prior notice of this policy. What pisses me off the most is that this “policy” is not stated in appointment reminders, text messages, or calls. The only message provided says, “Do not bring additional people with you unless being serviced.” A baby is not an “additional person” in the way that policy implies, and nowhere is it made clear that children are strictly prohibited. I slammed their door and left, reminding the girl that she wasn’t actually sorry because it wasn’t going to change anything!
I sat in their parking lot & called the nearest European Wax Center. When I explained my situation and my baby’s age, I was told, warmly and without hesitation MIND YOU, that my baby was absolutely welcome in the room with me. What a shame.
Because of how this situation was handled, Candee Skin has lost me as a customer permanently. As a women-owned business, I expected more understanding, clearer communication, and basic consideration, especially for mothers. I am confident this is not the first time a woman has experienced something like this here.
Do better.
