The spa itself is truly beautiful and well-designed, and I appreciated the welcoming atmosphere upon arrival. However, my overall experience didn’t fully meet the expectations I had. At times, the visit felt a bit rushed and lacked clear guidance, which made it harder to fully relax. I found myself feeling like I needed to move quickly through each step, rather than being able to settle into a calm, unhurried experience. While my masseuse was kind, I was hoping for a bit more focus on the areas I noted on my intake form. Overall, I was really looking forward to a slower, more serene experience to truly unwind. While there were certainly positive aspects, I’m not sure the service aligned with the price point for me.

Highly recommended by locals, but a crowded, unclean, and disappointing experience. Having lived in Charlotte for over 15 years, this Woodhouse Spa location was highly recommended to me by many friends. I have been to spas all over the world, so I had high expectations, but unfortunately, this visit was one of my least favorite experiences. Things started out wonderfully—when you first walk in, the front area looks great, smells amazing, and has a relaxing vibe. However, everything after the waiting room was a huge letdown. Once we were taken to the back, the experience completely shifted. I understand that visiting on a Sunday means the spa will naturally be busier than on a weekday, but it felt like they were funneling way too many people through at once. The area where guests get ready is incredibly small. Because of the high traffic, it felt cramped and very unclean—specifically the floors. They desperately need someone back there cleaning more frequently on their busy days. For my treatment, I booked an 80-minute Deep Tissue session for $300. Even though I explicitly asked for deeper pressure, the therapist gave me what felt like a standard Swedish massage. To make matters worse, throughout the massage, I could clearly hear all the foot traffic and noise outside the door, which was incredibly disruptive. For a spa proclaiming high-end luxury, they need to have a much better sense of the difference between deep tissue and Swedish, as well as a quiet environment. The disappointment continued after the treatment. When my friend and I went into the relaxation room, there were zero seats available. The staff had actually placed name cards on the empty chairs to reserve them for other people, leaving those of us coming out of our massages with nowhere to sit. After an 80-minute session, you want to put your feet up and take a load off, but we ended up having to stand while we drank our post-massage water. To top it all off, the checkout process was awful. The receptionist gave me practically no eye contact. She didn't ask how my session was, didn't ask for feedback, and didn't offer to rebook me. She simply stated my total was $300 and asked if I wanted to use the card on file. I declined, gave her a different card, and asked to add a 20% gratuity, bringing the total to $360. She processed it without even looking at me or telling me the payment went through. I just stood there waiting until I finally had to ask her if we were done, to which she just said "yes." Overall, an incredibly disappointing experience from start to finish. I would not recommend it.

I visit this spa every year on my birthday and it’s usually a wonderful experience, but this time was very different. I arrived for my appointment at 2:07 (I was running late, which was my fault). When I checked in, I was greeted by the front desk associate who said her name was McKenzie. Unfortunately, the greeting felt very rude and unwelcoming. I was taken to the changing room and then to the quiet room. When I arrived in the quiet room, there was no “happy birthday platter,” which I am typically given each year. After my massage, which was wonderful, my massage therapist brought me back to the quiet room and mentioned she wasn’t sure what happened or why the platter was missing. She suggested it may have been because I arrived late, but said she would request one for me. I then waited about 30 minutes before I had to ask someone for an update. Eventually the platter was brought out. After that, I changed and went to the front desk to check out. The same associate was there, and there was some back and forth regarding the card on file. Her tone and attitude felt very dismissive and slightly rude. I also did not receive the birthday gift I usually get. I believe it’s an exfoliation brush. I’m not sure if that’s something you’ve stopped doing, but it was always a nice touch. Overall, the experience left a bad taste in my mouth, especially since it was my birthday. Because of this, I will likely not be returning. I would let your front desk staff know that the experience starts with them and being rude isnt cute.

I have been going to Woodhouse since they opened. I bought a package and have enjoyed many massages. This time I booked for a couples massage and took my husband. The massages were as good as usual but we were really disappointed with the crowded facility. It was too crowded to be relaxing. When I went into the locker room to get undressed, I had to wait for the locker and then I had someone who asked me to move so she could get in her locker. I have never had so many people in the lockerroom at once. Then when we went in the relaxation room we were put in a corner, not very relaxing and not in one of the rooms. We went in for our massage which was nice but when we came out, I was asked if I wanted a mimosa, prosecco or water. I asked for a mimosa, then girl went to get it and came back and said we are out of prosecco so I said ok, how bout tea. We wanted to go in the relaxation room to relax after the massage but there wasn't one place to sit, so we had to leave. The halls, locker room and relaxation room were all uncomfortably overcrowded. We spent $324(including) for one hour of massages but couldn't enjoy the spa except for the massage. Then when checking out, I told the girl I had one more massage left on my package I had purchased previously and asked if I could use that and pay the difference for the two massages we had that day. She looked on the computer and said I have no history of you ever purchasing a package. She was a little abrupt. I said well I did, and I'll find it and bring it back in. when I checked out the previous time, I was told I had one more massage left, now this girl was saying I had none. I told her I purchased a package of 80 min massages. She said "oh I cannot use an 80 min massage for today anyway because you got two 50 min massages. I was like ok, I purchased more than what I had left on my package and cannot apply it?" She said no. So basically, we had massages to relax, then couldn't enjoy the relaxation room, and then was met with frustration at the register when leaving. Needless to say, our relaxing day was anything but relaxing. We were really disappointed. Until this visit Woodhouse was my favorite spa in Charlotte. Not sure how I feel at this point or if I will return even if they find my lost last massage that was on my package.

{original rating: 2 stars} The facility is dark, calming and inviting. I was shown the relaxation room and changing space. The robe was super cozy. A complimentary beverage and small snack plate was a nice touch. I booked a 50 minute restorative sleep massage. Stone took me back to a dimmed and cozy room. The table was warm and very comfortable. But the relaxing stopped there. Stone was very methodical, rigid and loud. Everytime he moved the covers he would snap them into place - it reminded me of hospital corners when making beds. His technique was very to the point and planned. Like I am going to rub your leg this way 3 times and then the other way 3 times. It was not relaxing one bit. He also was not quiet when moving around the room, grabbing a towel, setting anything down. Then he asked if I like deep tissue and I said I prefer moderate to deep pressure. More on this below - For a restorative sleep treatment - I did not sleep nor feel sleepy during or afterward. After the treatment, I went back to the relaxation room and there was no seating available except a small stool. I realize many were waiting for their treatments to begin, but either provide more seating or book less appointments at the same time so that guests have time to relax in a comfortable spot before and after treatment. I planned to use the shower facilities before leaving. There are only 2 showers and one was out of order. The only working shower was rather low pressure and the amenities provided were far from spa quality. There was 1 pump bottle of lotion available and it was clogged. Only 2 sinks in the bathroom and they only provided a hair dryer, straightener and curling iron - no brushes, no hair care products, no deodorant or personal care items. Being only two sinks made it hard to get ready and let others wash their hands. The changing room/bathroom overall was entirely too small - just like the relaxation room. At checkout, I had to pay extra for a 'deep tissue' add on - which I never approved or was told about this extra charge. Make sure your therapist knows you don't want to pay extra for anything! It was a disappointing 'luxury spa' experience. And most certainly not worth the price. I won't be returning. EDIT: Changed to 3 stars. The owner/manager contacted me the next day to ask for more details regarding my visit. She was extremely kind and offered a complimentary facial and salt room visit, also noting a more suited therapist for me. I appreciate the effort to reach out and discuss my visit and offer a better experience next time. However, she offered excuses for why my experience was sub-par - busy on weekends, can’t stay longer than 30 minutes after service per the contract, not a hotel spa so less amenities - so I am unsure they truly understand the meaning of luxury spa or if they are just another ‘spa farm’ with higher prices.
