What is window tint film?
The fundamental base material for window tint film is a polyester film derived from polyethylene terephthalate or PET. There are several options for window tinting. Films can contain colors, metals, or ceramic particles in addition to an adhesive layer. The mix of these components influences the film's qualities, including heat rejection, UV protection, and appearance.
What are the benefits of window film?
Automotive window tints not only filter approximately 99% of dangerous UV rays, but they also improve privacy and protection. The term "film percentages" refers to the amount of visible light transmitted. The proportion of light that can travel through a window film determines its shade. This is known as visible light transmission or VLT. The lower the VLT, the darker the windows will be.
What are the window tinting laws in Washington State?
When selecting the hue of your tints, it is critical to obey the rule. Varying states have varying rules about how dark your automobile windows can be. In Washington State, the legislation demands a 70% VLT front windshield and a 24% VLT front side window. Passenger car rear side windows and windshields should have a VLT of 24%. On multifunctional cars, you may tint the back side windows and windshield as dark as you like.
How are car window tints installed?
The film is put to the interior of your car's glass. Our installation method starts with properly washing the glass to eliminate dust, smudges, and debris. We will next apply the film to the exterior of the car window and cut out a piece of tint. The film is then carefully cut to match your car's specific form. Our technicians will next remove the release liner and apply an application solution to both the film's adhesive and your window. The film is then applied to the interior of the glass.
How do black dots (dot-matrix) and lines at the edge of a window affect window tinting?
The black dots (dot-matrix) or patterns around the edges of some panes are made of Teflon, which is applied at the manufacture. They aim to cover trim lines and edges on various cars. This Teflon substance, while essentially cosmetic, can make it difficult to apply window tint that is intended to be applied directly to the glass. There are several cases when it may hinder window tint from adhering, such as when the dot patterns or lines at the top of the glass are excessively thick. Depending on the thickness of the material, the dots and lines may appear lighter or different. However, there is no chance of peeling.
How long should I keep my windows rolled up after I have window tint installed?
If windows are rolled down too soon after installation, the tint may peel off. If this occurs, we can redo the windows at a reduced rate or for free, depending on the circumstances. To avoid this, we recommend leaving your windows open for at least two to four days.
How long does the film take to fully cure?
Cure time is the amount of time it takes for the residual application solution to dry after installation. We try to remove all of the solutions after each application, but it is practically impossible. As a result, the cure time is determined by the type of film used and the residual solution's drying duration. While this is happening, it is still operating at full capacity, but you may notice bubbles, haze, streaks, or other visual faults while drying. Do not be alarmed! This is perfectly typical when the residual solvent evaporates. Additionally, the cure time might vary depending on the conditions. If it's a hot summer day, the film may be cured in a few days. However, if it's a cool winter day, the drying process might take a few weeks. Bubbles, streaks, and other visual flaws are common throughout the curing process.
What do I use to safely clean my windows?
Wait a week before washing your tinted windows. Cleaning them too quickly might damage the color before it has fully dried. Your windows will have been cleaned down after tinting, but they will most likely require a thorough cleaning with a gentle paper towel and ammonia-free solution in 7 days. Ammonia can break down the adhesive of films, causing them to peel and become brittle. We recommend using ammonia-free, alcohol-based cleaning solutions or just plain water.
What causes window film to turn purple?
