I rented a mustang. I get there and the car was not available.
First they claim they had called me and I didn't answer (that was the first lie). Then they told me that they would give me a free upgrade as compensation... Only to realize that the upgrade wasn't free. But because I had signed the agreement, they wouldn't refund the money. They are a bunch of scammers, stay away and use the other, hopefully more reliable, companies. Their customer service was sloppy, slow and ultimately useless as they refused to do anything about it.

WARNING SCAM ALERT
Absolutely, do not use this company. DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO USE ANY OTHER COMPANY BUT NOT THIS ONE AS THEY WILL TRY TO CLAIM THAT YOU DAMAGED THEIR VEHICLE AND GET YOU FOR THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF DAMAGE AFTER YOU RETURN THE VEHICLE.
I rented from this company last week and only had the car for about 3 to 4 days. I only used it to drive back and forth from work as my primary vehicle was in the shop. Otherwise the car sat in my garage and is very well protected. When I picked up the car it was very dark out and the representative refused to do a walk around with me of the vehicle. I took photos of the car but it was dark and so I'm sure they take advantage of people who rent the car at night knowing that they can't take proper photos.
When I returned the vehicle I was told to leave my keys with the representative who then took the vehicle and said everything should be fine that I would get a receipt in my email. I had to rush to an air flight so I left.
A couple days later I get an email from SIXT claiming that I have a huge scratch that goes to the lower paint layer and that it is going to cost $1,400 in damages.
This is absolutely impossible and I will be pursuing legal action against this company no matter how much it costs or how long it takes as this is clearly a predatory tactic that they have used on many people. If you look at the other reviews here or if you look on Reddit or other forums they do this to many people. I don't know how a class action lawsuit has not been filed against this company. I will get whatever lawyer it takes to make this known and to make this right and to stop this company from scamming so many people.
I REPEAT ABSOLUTELY, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They have some luxury brand vehicles on their lot and it appears that they know they can get even more money from you by claiming you scratched their very expensive vehicles.
This is absolutely ridiculous and I will be contacting this state representatives and possibly even higher if I need to. I have the connections.

We agreed on an amount and we ended up being charged over 60% more on return. Not because of accident or extra insurance which we were basically strong armed into, but due to adding things in the fine print, counting on us coming in late at night on an international flight. Spare yourself days disputing and hassle, just use one of the competitors and stear clear, at the very least from this site.
Update: Please don't be fooled by their cute customer support response. I've exhausted my resources and time in trying to give them a second, third and fourth chance and their response here says to contact them to discuss further is laughable.

I am writing this review to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent rental experience with SIXT. What should have been a straightforward rental turned into a frustrating and stressful ordeal due to your company’s handling of an alleged damage claim.
After returning the vehicle, I was informed of a scratch and other alleged damages that I categorically deny causing. I was never made aware of any such damage during pickup, nor was a clear, transparent walk-around inspection conducted with me at either pickup or return. No conclusive before-and-after photos were presented that clearly prove the damage occurred while the vehicle was in my possession.
Despite this, SIXT proceeded to rely on an automated inspection system and unverified claims, placing the burden on me to disprove damage that was never properly documented in the first place. This approach is unfair, unprofessional, and lacks basic customer transparency.
To make matters worse, I was pressured with follow-up questions and damage allegations even after informing your team that the matter had already been escalated to my insurance provider. A claim has been opened with GEICO regarding this rental, and any further questions or correspondence regarding alleged damages should be directed to them, not repeatedly pushed onto the customer.
The entire experience — from unclear damage documentation, to denial of reasonable explanations, to the overall lack of customer support — has been extremely disappointing. This situation reflects poorly on SIXT’s rental practices and raises serious concerns about how customers are treated when disputing questionable damage claims.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend SIXT and will think very carefully before ever renting from your company again. I expect this complaint to be reviewed seriously and handled appropriately.

I just had the worst experience I’ve ever had with a car rental company renting a car for the week. they charge me $400 for cleaning up. I guess a weeks worth of my crumbs on the floor which I know to be not very much as my car is always clean. Not only that I actually went out of my way to wipe it down because I did have it for a week and it was sitting. So it was just on the dashboard, and I went out of my way to buy wipes to wipe it down. They told me that they are charging me $400 because I had to vacuum it. Oh, and it smelled funny.!?!?!? but they could not provide me with any more information or what type of funny smell it smelled like. Maybe the parking garage that it was parked in? Who knows but they have yet to inform me. Nor have any other information for me. But they can charge me. hung up on me three times when I called Customer Service finally got through to somebody who understood me and still could not help me understand. Funny thing is they checked the car and said everything was fine when I dropped it off. 24 hours later it’s not fine ?!?!? THIS is worst company ever.!!!
