- LWLarry Williams3 days ago1.0Bought my 2023 Tacoma from universal Toyota. Used my 3 free oil changes from them and have been changing my own oil ever since. Out of the blue Shottenkirk calls me and asks if I want to schedule an oil change? I explained that I had already used my free oil changes and did not purchase the extended service plan. The person said that their record showed I still had another free oil change. Sooo I agreed to a free oil change showed up this morning for the service and of course the gentleman behind the desk had no records showing I was getting free oil change. Had I made the mistake of not remembering and scheduled a service I would understand. But A dealership that I didn’t purchase my vehicle from calls me out of the blue and says I have a free service was complete BS and a freaking waste of my time. Don’t go here

However, I am leaving 3 stars because they will force you to purchase a customer care package for 4k which they “can’t remove”. This significantly inflates the final purchase price of the car, and would be of no value to me since I do not live in the San Antonio area. I unfortunately had to leave behind a car that I drove 2.5 hours round trip to purchase because of this. I get that dealerships want you to purchase their extra packages, but 4k is absurd.

All those factors along with competitive pricing landed me in my dream vehicle!

He took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all our questions, and made us feel comfortable and confident during the process. While Eduardo was assisting us, the experience was excellent and customer-focused. Unfortunately, once his manager took over, things changed. We ultimately decided not to purchase a vehicle due to what we felt was dishonesty and unnecessary add-ons being pushed to increase the price rather than help the customer. That was disappointing, especially after such a strong start. Eduardo himself remained professional, transparent, and supportive the entire time. I would absolutely recommend working with Eduardo, even though we did not end up buying a car because of management decisions.
