Avoid Safelite if you value your wallet or accountability. I contacted Safelite to repair a small, dime-sized rock chip in the mid-periphery of my windshield — a textbook, low-risk, repairable chip. During Safelite’s repair attempt, the windshield cracked instantly and became completely unrepairable, requiring full replacement.
A crack that runs immediately during a chip repair strongly indicates technician error, most likely excessive pressure applied during the repair process. In my opinion, this reflects negligent workmanship and inadequate technician training. This was not bad luck, wear and tear, or a delayed crack — the damage occurred while Safelite was actively working on the glass.
Despite causing the damage, Safelite has refused to take responsibility and is leaving me responsible for a $1,000 deductible. I have spoken with multiple representatives both by phone and at the service center, and no one has helped, taken ownership, or offered a reasonable resolution.
Everyone should know this before using Safelite: if they damage your windshield during a repair, you may still be forced to pay out of pocket. I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before trusting Safelite with any type of windshield repair.

Service was fine, but I had two appointments that ended up being scheduled. One I paid for and then cancelled. The second with a discount that i was to pay on the day of service. For some reason, they said the pre-paid one did not cancel and still showed up on the day of service along with the discounted appointment. So they told me they chose to go ahead complete the service under the order number that had been pre-paid, instead of the most recent appointment/order. No one can tell me why this wasn’t brought to my attention, as I had receipts showing the cancelled appointment and the discounted appointment. Once I caught it, of course it had already be deducted from my account. They told me they could refund me, then recharge me again for the discounted order. Which was fine, but I’m here now on day 4 waiting on this refund to happen. They’re communicating with me, but they just keep saying “check’s in the mail,” so to speak. Frustrating. It was $100 difference. That’s a lot for me at Christmas after having my car broken into and having to shell out $500 instead of $600 for this glass repair. Ugh!
Update : It’s 12/19….still no refund has shown up. Was told that if there’s no refund by today to touch base. Today marks two FULL weeks since I had the glass repaired. My initial cost without the discount has been posted to my account for 12 days now. There hasn’t been any refund pending and definitely nothing posting. No reason refund should take this long. Was told two or three times now that it shows to have been in process……🤷♀️
