Buyer beware - shady business practices
I purchased a Bronco 3 weeks ago at Clay Cooley Ford. This is just a warning in case all of the Clay Cooley dealerships have the same practices. I went in asking for the advertised price. I was told the only way to get the advertised price with to purchase their Family Guarantee which was simple a claw back of the discount shown in their advertisement. Shady business tactic at best. Next, the finance team messed up my finance paperwork for my trade in and they are holding on to nearly $5,000 of my money. It's been 3 weeks and counting. This is the absolute worst purchasing experience that I have had.

Suuuuper slow turnaround time!!! I strategically planned to drop off my jeep at a time when I would be away for work. Made an appointment and communicated regularly with them to coordinate drop-off for repairs. More than two weeks later, they haven’t even finished the diagnostics!!! I never received a single phone call or update. When I tried to call, I got disconnected multiple times, put on hold for about an hour, and then told rather flippantly that my “rep.” was off until Monday??? I don’t understand what my rep being off has to do with them fixing my car. I asked if I could speak with someone like a technician and all she could tell me was that it was assigned to a technician but couldn’t give me any additional information. When I asked her name, she hung up..I’ve never experienced customer service so dismissive about needing to get your car back. It’s a shame because everyone was so nice when they were trying to get me to bring my car in and gave me the royal treatment until it came time to actually do the work.

Just picked up my 2025 Mazda3 from Leo Maldonado at Clay Cooley Chevy in Irving—best car-buying experience ever! Leo was friendly, zero pressure, and knew the Mazda3 inside out. He nailed my needs, walked me through the Preferred trim, and made the test drive a blast. Financing was smooth, no hidden fees, and I drove off smiling. Loving the power and style already! Ask for Leo—he’s the guy!

Take my advice, DON’T see Clay. Find anyone else. The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in the 30 years I’ve been leasing GM cars. Rude, condescending, dismissive, and arrogant. Even though kindness is free you won’t get any from this place. We drove over 50 minutes in traffic to pick up an adapter for our EV. We got there right before closing. “Heaven” in service told us the whole building left at 4:59 (when my husband walked in). I said we drove around the parking lot and went to sales first then they directed us to you. I also explained we drove 40 minutes (which was actually 53 mins I checked after) to get there and could she just try and call to see if someone could grab the adapter, it’s already paid for. We got an email saying it was ready, we are just there to pick it up. She said nope. She kept saying everyone already left and you’re here after closing. We were “lucky” she was there finishing paperwork, because she would have already left she said. It was 5:03 at this point. She said “Come back Monday”. Mind you we got there at 4:50 and went to service. The service bays all had their shutters down already and that’s why we went to sales first to find where to go. Needless to say, I will not be back Monday. I will not be back ever. I called GM and cancelled my order and got a refund. Mind you, this was just a stupid adapter, you can’t get a refund on a car! If this is the way they treat customers don’t chance it. No way I’d ever lease or buy a car from this place. What a joke. I would suggest Friendly, Young, Jupiter, Classic… anywhere else. There so many options in Dallas, choose any other place. Understanding, patience, and kindness is what you need to have great customer service. You’ll get NONE of that here. Instead you get people who hate their job and who they work for so much, a whole department is locking up and running out the door 1 minute before closing. Yikes.

Unfortunately, you have to choose at least one star my review would be -10 stars. So I started texting them on Wednesday about a few vehicles by Thursday evening. I had picked out three vehicles that we were interested in and told them we were paying cash and we had $20,000 limit. So they set up an appointment for my wife to go see the cars because I can’t go I’m handicap and in a wheelchair. My wife got there for the appointment and she asked about the first car and they said oh it’s in the repair shop. It had a check engine light on it so you can’t see that one which of course we wouldn’t want to see Anyway, if there’s a check engine light on. So the second car she asked about it and then they say oh sorry that’s out on loan. We won’t have it back for two days so then my wife is totally frustrated. She asked to speak to the manager, the manager named Joe comes out talk to her apologizes And then they continue to talk about the car we really wanted and when they’re gonna get it back and we can when we can see it and then they make a deal that we can buy the car for $20,000 once my Wife test drive it and see if everything is good. By the way, my wife is Uber each time over there cause the plan was to buy the car right away and I’m not supposed to be left home alone for more than one hour and the dealership is one hour away from us so my wife takes a trip the next day to go test drive the car and pick it up and pay for it so the manager decide to try to raise the price even though he had agreed on 20,000 cash the day before he says I can’t sell it for less than 21,000. So they did not have the cars even on the lot ready to show us and then they make a deal and we come back to buy the car and they try to raise the price. Needless to say we do not buy the car And that’s the reason I’m writing the reviews and also contact in the better business. Bureau
