Our experience with JP Harvey Motors, INC. in Clarksville has been deeply disappointing. Despite repeated assurances and multiple visits to their service department, our daughter’s first car remains unreliable and has required costly repairs. The dealership failed to fulfill promises, offered poor communication, and surprised us with unexpected fees.
In August 2025, we chose JP Harvey Motors when our daughter, already a college student, needed a dependable vehicle for her move. During the test drive, we raised concerns about a knocking noise, but the salesman assured us their service department would fix it before the purchase was finalized.
After the first repair, the knocking sound returned. On the second visit, the technician told us if the sound returns, just bring the car back and they would take care of it. Unfortunately, less than two months after purchasing, the knocking problem resurfaced a third time, as well as a new issue—her car started stalling. The dealership then quoted $3,000 for repairs to address the unresolved knocking, and the new stalling issue.
Declining the expensive repairs, we were hit with an unexpected $160 diagnostic fee, even though we weren’t told about this charge and were simply trying to resolve the same initial issue. Throughout this ordeal, management was slow to respond and seemed unwilling to take responsibility, offering only an ambiguous trade-in solution that could further penalize our daughter.
JP Harvey Motors advertised a reliable car at a premium price but failed to deliver. We urge buyers beware. They clearly cannot be trusted.

Our daughter purchased her very first car from JP Harvey Motors, INC. in Clarksville in late August. The salesman knew that she was a college student in need of a dependable car. While test driving, the car made a knocking sound that seemed to be coming from the front of the vehicle. The salesman assured my husband and daughter that their service department would fix it and let her know when it was repaired for a second test drive. A few weeks after purchasing the vehicle, it started making the same knocking sound. It went back to the shop and was supposedly fixed a second time. The mechanic told my husband and daughter to bring it back if there were any more problems and he would take care of it. The car is now in the shop for a third time making the exact same knocking sound. In addition, it began stalling out on her. It has been in their shop for a week now and they are trying to charge her around $3000 to fix the exact same knocking issue and now a faulty O2 sensor and “fouled up” spark plugs. The purchase never would have happened in the first place if we thought for a second that the knocking issue was not properly repaired as promised. It was a stipulation to the purchase. While speaking to a manager today, whom we had to call because he did not return our messages from earlier in the week, he asked, “Are you sure it is the same knocking sound?” Of course it is! He offered to let her trade the car back in for a different one but then said that he would have to “appraise her car” to determine a fair trade in value. She should not lose her hard earned money because they did not fulfill their promise to her upon purchase. (It has been in their shop much more than she has been able to drive it since the purchase. Very few miles have been put on it.) Nor because they had a car for sale on their lot listed on the high end of the blue book value that needed $3000 worth of repairs. She just wants her first car repaired and returned to her as promised. Apparently, that is too much to ask for.
