Back in 2024, I had Safelite replace my windshield as preventive maintenance. The installation was done in my garage. Unfortunately, the workmanship was extremely poor. The installer smeared excessive adhesive on nearly every visible surface, covered the VIN, and left multiple seals missing. I filed a formal complaint directly with Safelite, but never received a response. I eventually decided to replace the windshield again to ensure it was installed properly. Because too much time had passed, the replacement was not covered, so I paid the deductible out of pocket. While this second installation was noticeably better, the technicians were clearly dealing with the consequences of the first poor install and did their best to clean it up. During the process, it was discovered that parts were missing from the original installation. A Safelite representative acknowledged that these parts had not been installed previously. To resolve this, my wife had to drive across town to pick up the missing parts herself, which was frustrating and unnecessary. The most disappointing part came after the install was complete. I noticed damage to the leather on my steering wheel. I keep my truck immaculate, and this damage clearly occurred during the roughly two-hour installation. What made it worse was the complete lack of acknowledgment or accountability for the damage. In hindsight, I would have been better off paying a reputable independent shop the full cost to have the job done correctly the first time. I tried to give Safelite the benefit of the doubt, but repeated issues, shortcuts, and lack of follow-up ultimately led to a very disappointing experience. Proceed with caution. Three stars for the rework from the last Safelite technician, but displeased with the full process.

Very easy from start to finish. Online appt was easy and replacing/fixing windshield at any location (home/office/etc) is so very convenient. Tech was friendly and worked nonstop to accomplish the task. Would definitely use them again.

I had a great experience with my Safelite windshield repair. The front desk team (Melissa and Danielle) was friendly from the very first appointment reminder call all the way through picking up my car. The repair itself took way less time than I expected, which was a huge bonus. The team made sure I had a clear understanding of the repair and all warranties available to me. I drove away confident that my repair went excellent, but they would happily address any follow up questions or concerns if anything were to arise. No one likes having to take their car in for any kind of repair, but the team at this location made the whole process smooth, easy, and honestly pretty pleasant. I really appreciated how efficient and truly welcoming everyone was.

Avoid Safelite if you value your wallet or accountability. I contacted Safelite to repair a small, dime-sized rock chip in the mid-periphery of my windshield — a textbook, low-risk, repairable chip. During Safelite’s repair attempt, the windshield cracked instantly and became completely unrepairable, requiring full replacement. A crack that runs immediately during a chip repair strongly indicates technician error, most likely excessive pressure applied during the repair process. In my opinion, this reflects negligent workmanship and inadequate technician training. This was not bad luck, wear and tear, or a delayed crack — the damage occurred while Safelite was actively working on the glass. Despite causing the damage, Safelite has refused to take responsibility and is leaving me responsible for a $1,000 deductible. I have spoken with multiple representatives both by phone and at the service center, and no one has helped, taken ownership, or offered a reasonable resolution. Everyone should know this before using Safelite: if they damage your windshield during a repair, you may still be forced to pay out of pocket. I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before trusting Safelite with any type of windshield repair.
