Intoxalock is the ABSOLUTE worst IDD that you can chose to get installed. Please do NOT use this fraudulent device. During the installation, it damaged my power steering column in my ‘07 Honda accord, which 8 months into it, couldn’t pass inspection. I had 6 weeks left until my unrestricted license. I scheduled a removal from the shop that deals with this company. I informed the company and I also advised the dmv. No one said I had to use the car for the entire 12 months (which idk how I’m supposed to use the device since my car was inoperable- it literally broke down on me 2 days after it failed inspection). I thought I would just donate the car to the shop that was taking the device out. I have been without a car, since I am NOT getting another IDD installed into a new car- possibly damaging it- NO way! They have LIED to me, they have really screwed me around and I would NEVER recommend Intoxalock to Anyone!

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
