There’s so much I could say about this place and none of it’s good. I came in for a service because I stripped the oil plug on my oil pan and needed a replacement. I brought in my own oil and filter, understanding that, obviously, to replace the plug, the oil will need to be changed as well. Service was somewhat decent, but I specifically asked for the plug to be checked to confirm it was stripped and to let me know if it could be replaced. Those directions were followed; however, what was not mentioned was the labor I would be charged for, and I was also charged to replace a filter despite having brought in my own. This was not brought to my attention until after the fact, and of course, was just thrown on a bill. I walked out, paying a bill I was uncomfortable with and annoyed, having not received the communication I’d hoped for.
All in all, I was relieved to have the issue resolved, so I paid and just left, only to realize the next day I had left my car registration. I called to check that I had left it there and was told that it was there, but it got moved around, and eventually someone threw it away. Keep in mind. This is the next day, so not much time had passed when I asked, "Why wasn’t I called?" I was told, “Oh, I called you, and it went straight to voicemail” (but no one left a voicemail). When I came in, I spoke with a man who used a condescending tone and offered no apology, instead telling me it was OK and that another could be printed if I signed for it. Worse things happen in life, so no, it wasn’t the biggest deal, but principle is what matters most to me, and to be treated in such a dismissive manner was infuriating, as if it wasn’t my car registration that someone had thrown away. Also, while waiting for my new registration to be printed, I overheard a customer checking out, and the receptionist casually mention that a surcharge had been applied to the customer's total, raising the price beyond what the customer had expected. The customer was clearly confused and asked for clarification (seemingly having to drag an explanation out of her) until she finally explained that there was a surcharge for using a credit card and that it would not have been applied had the customer used a debit card. The customer quickly opted to use a debit card instead, so the receptionist said she would refund the charge and then recharge the customer on the other card. This told me that she only mentioned the surcharge after the fact (very unethical, once again), not giving the customer the option of whether they wanted to pay it or not. I just found this so distasteful, and it added to my negative impression of this place. Needless to say, I won’t be back. I’d rather drive farther, even though this dealership is less than 10 minutes from my home. Do better, Diehl, and treat EVERYONE with the same respect you’d want you and your family to be treated with.
