This Penske location on Girard made our moving experience dangerous and miserable. After Penske told me that they only rent trucks that are under 75K miles or four years old, on moving day this location rented me an eight year old truck with over 150K miles on it, and it was four feet shorter than we paid for. The driver side window had a sheet of paper with large printed words saying "READY TO GO!!!" Not quite... What this really meant was that the truck was ready to go to the junkyard. It couldn't make it up the hill on I-40 west of ABQ without the engine giving out. The dash beeped and said "CHECK ENGINE" and then eventually said "STOP ENGINE". So I pulled on to the shoulder of the interstate and shut it down. When we called Penske, their support line didn't work for over an hour. Once we could report the issue, they called out a mechanic who was shocked to find that the engine was over-filled with oil... so much oil that he was able to remove a gallon of oil and it still had plenty left. In one of the attached pictures, you can see how much oil was over the max fill line. He then had me drive further to see if it ran any better, but he forgot to latch the hood down, so it flipped up while I was driving at highway speed and it fully blocked my view of the windshield... at night no less. I managed to safely pull off the road again, get the hood latched down, then drive a few more miles before the engine finally died completely. When I gave my location to the Penske service agent on the phone, he argued with me that I was still in Albuquerque, even though I was 1.5 hours west of town. They eventually agreed to send out a large wrecker to haul it all the way back to the main Penske location in ABQ. At this point it was around 1:30 AM and we were completely exhausted. The main Penske agreed to get us another truck and a moving crew, and said it will be ready at 10 AM. Then at 7:30 AM we get a phone call saying that the crew has been there for half an hour already and is waiting for us, and we need to get there ASAP or they will leave on us. Stress upon stress. Once we got a different truck, and everything moved from one truck to the other, we were finally able to get on our way a day later. Avoid dealing with this location at all costs, and go with anyone else instead.
