Membership is open to individuals 21 years of age or older who hold a valid driver’s license. All new members are required to complete a NASBLA-approved Safe Boater Certificate and participate in our New Member On-Water Orientation with one of our U.S. Coast Guard–licensed Captains before making any reservations.

Freedom Boat Club currently operates 12 locations throughout Michigan. Members based in West Michigan enjoy unlimited access to Grand Haven and Muskegon, along with reciprocal access to the following locations: Algonac, Bay City, Detroit, Harrison Township, Gun Lake, Holland, Saugatuck, South Haven, St. Clair Shores, and St. Joseph.
Can I become a member with no boating experience?
Absolutely! No prior boating experience is required. With unlimited complimentary training from our U.S. Coast Guard–licensed Captains, we ensure that every member feels confident, knowledgeable, and ready to enjoy all that boating has to offer.

Making a reservation is simple and convenient. Members can book a boat anytime using a mobile phone, tablet, desktop, or any internet-connected device through our reservation website or the Freedom Boat Club App. Simply choose your location, time, and boat—and we’ll see you on the water!

Members can enjoy boating anytime with unlimited, spur-of-the-moment access to any available boat.

Our members enjoy unlimited access at our home locations in Grand Haven and Muskegon, along with up to four visits per year at each reciprocal location.
