In Ann Arbor this little shop is where you'll find timely, honest Japanese automotive repairs. If they cannot do something, they'll let you know upfront and forthright. For example, they don't do tire repairs or replacement so they referred me to someone, Firestone in downtown Ann Arbor near Huron street.

Fantastic service! Needed a last minute drop-off to address a concerning issue before heading out on the road for a long drive that same day. Dave was super helpful and took the time to explain everything without it feeling intimidating. Quick, thorough, and great location if you’re around central campus. Folks seem happy to be there, so it looks like their workers and customers (and their cars) are very well cared for.

This is an honest place, I come in here and they will be transparent with what needs to be done and what doesn't. They will even recommend me to hold off on an unnecessary procedure. In the past, a dealership will recommend me a repair; I come in here for a 2nd opinion and they will tell me it's not needed or charge me much lower for the service. I feel compelled to keep my old Civic Hybrid or buy another Japanese import due to this place. Thanks again.

Frequently Asked Questions About Japanese Auto Professional Service, Ltd.
How often should I service my car?
At Japanese Auto Professional Service, Ltd, we advise most drivers to change their car's oil and oil filter every 5,000 miles or once a year, whichever occurs first. During this service, we perform a thorough inspection and provide recommendations for any additional maintenance your vehicle may require.
What does the "maint req" light on my dash indicate?
The "maint req" light is an indicator that your vehicle is due for its recommended oil change service.
What does the "check engine" light on my dash mean?
The "check engine" light, typically appearing as a yellow engine symbol, indicates that your vehicle's engine computer has detected a potential issue affecting emission performance. If your engine is operating normally, you can schedule an appointment at your convenience. However, if the engine is running poorly or the light is flashing, we recommend bringing your vehicle in for immediate inspection.
My car makes a grinding noise that gets worse when braking. What does this mean?
A grinding noise that intensifies during braking is often an indication that your brake components are worn and require servicing in the near future.
My vehicle makes a humming sound when moving, which gets louder with speed. What's causing this?
A humming sound that increases with speed is frequently associated with a failing wheel bearing. While your vehicle is generally safe to operate, we recommend scheduling a diagnostic appointment at your earliest convenience.
A red light that looks like a battery came on my dash. Do I need a new battery?
The battery-shaped red light typically indicates an issue with the battery charging system, rather than the battery itself. This problem can potentially prevent your vehicle from starting. We advise contacting us promptly to schedule a diagnostic appointment.
My car sounds louder than normal and makes a roaring noise that worsens with speed. What's causing that?
An unusually loud roaring noise that increases with speed often suggests the need for exhaust system repairs. As the exhaust system comprises multiple components, a professional inspection is necessary to accurately identify which parts require replacement.
My vehicle feels bouncy and sounds clunky on rough roads. What's up?
The symptoms you describe are commonly associated with suspension system issues. Given that the suspension system includes various components such as shocks, struts, control arms, ball joints, and anti-sway bars, a comprehensive inspection is required to accurately diagnose the specific problem.
Does my car need a tune-up?
Modern vehicles typically have extended service intervals and don't require frequent tune-ups. We recommend consulting your owner's manual for your vehicle's specific maintenance schedule. Our technicians are always available to inspect your vehicle and provide expert advice on any necessary maintenance procedures.
