My wife and I drove 9 hours and over 450 miles round trip on Sunday, 29 September 2024 to your Windham, Maine location to purchase an RV. We ended up signing for the 2018 Forest River Rockwood. We were never told during the entire purchase process that we would NOT have an official answer as to if we owned this unit or not that day. My F550 has a gooseneck hitch on it for our horse and flatbed trailers. I asked about the adapter for the 5th wheel to gooseneck and it was like I was speaking some ancient language to the parts people. I jumped on my phone and Google searched for an adapter and found VARIABLE 12" - 16" adapters online and/or locally for $300.00-$450.00. After that debacle. I then inquired about the labor to install the adapter, I was told $200.00 per hour. With the POPPER tools, this is less than a 90 minute job. We were getting ready to walk out the door to drive home and were not even offered a folder with our paperwork in it for the sale. -- we had to ask for it! This whole store and process feels discombobulated, disorganized, and nonchalant. Ed agreed to have the adapter hitch installed on Camping World's dime. THEREFORE, I ignore my better instincts to bring my tools as noted in #4 above! We arrived Saturday, 12 October 2024 right at 9am to sign the contract and pick up the RV. The adapter was not yet installed!!!!! I inquired about this before we started the paperwork and was ASSURED it would get installed. At about 11 am we started doing the finance paperwork and it took about an hour. No big deal. We got the extended service plan AND the coating to protect the paint. We were told at this time that the water tank, gray, and black water tanks would be emptied, the propane tanks would be filled AND the coating applied. After we were done in finance and sitting in the waiting area for about 45 minutes (1245p ish), we were approached and notified that there was an issue with the adapter and they needed the installation instruction and that it was not installed yet. REALLY!!!! They couldn't knock on the door and ask for the instructions or GOOGLE THEM while we were doing the financing paperwork????  @ 3p we are told there is one guy working on it but that he has NEVER DONE it before. At this point I ask if I can go help because we were set up to have the RV on site in Massachusetts by 4pm that day. He said they didn't have any drill bits so I went to THD and bought them myself. $100.00 in tools and 45 minutes later, I return to complete the work. Did I mention that the Tech is now GONE and I am the only one doing the work!!!! The Reese 5th wheel plate had a brace in it that needed to be cut out. I go and locate someone and ask for an Oxy/Acetylene torch. 5 minutes linto cutting the O2 runs out!!! Saturday 445p and NO WAY to get a delivery of O2 and believe it or not, Camping World did NOT have a second O2 tank there. 515p the site is cleaned up and we LEAVE!!!! Our sales guy says he will come in @ 10am SUNDAY to let us in to finish the installation. We leave, FIND ANOTHER HOTEL $225.00 and a 1 hour drive to Augusta we have a room. I go to Harbor Freight (only thing open with a plasma cutter in stock) and spend $893.00 on tools that Camping World should have. At 10am we arrive back at Camping world. There is NO WAY to get into the service building for electricity!!!!!! We brainstorm and finally hook two campers up to the outside electric and use the outside plugs to run the air compressor and plasma cutter (that I had to buy). Their electric drill was on its last leg and I smoke checked that drill on the third 1 3/4" hole. Smoked the Ryobi drill after 3 battery replacements on the third hole as well. I have to send my wife to buy a REAL DRILL for the job. $125.00 later, I drill the last two holes in a few minutes and take the plasma cutter and get the rest of the metal brace out of the way for the bolts to be inserted. This would have been about 90 minutes of work with the PROPER TOOLS IN HAND!!!! Total EXTRA COST to me was $1,343.00 to install that adapter plate.
