I was told by another company that I had an oil leak. Took it to feldkamp's and was told a very minor leak in oil pan and one in valve cover. Not big enough to di anything about it. Was not loosing much oil. That is why I never saw oil on the ground. Will th technician/mechanic there put dye in that can be seen with an ultra blue light and said to keep driving it till next oil change. To bring it in then and they would know exactly where and how bad the seepage is. They did not charge me for the diagnosis or the dye. No charge at all. They were really pleasant to talk to. There is a TV there to watch and games and books for kids to be kept occupied. Would recommend them to anyone needing an honest business experience. Keep up the good relationship with me and word of mouth goes a long way. I was prepared to spend money on something I didn't need yet and they saved me. Thanks guys.

Most honest shop I have ever dealt with! I had 600-700 dollars worth of work they quoted over the phone based on what I was being told from another mechanic. Upon bringing the car in, oil leak testing the car, and putting it on the lift, they realized the car didn’t need any work and was not leaking. Charged me only diagnostic fee.

I had my fuel relay and fuel pump replaced. The crew at FeldKamps were great at communicating, the price was fair and when I wasn't able to get there to pick it up myself, they towed it to me free of charge! I highly recommend using this garage.
Frequently Asked Questions About Feldkamps West Automotive & Towing
How often should I get my oil changed?
The frequency of oil changes depends on several factors including your vehicle type, driving conditions, and the oil type used. It's best to follow your manufacturer's recommendations to ensure optimal engine performance and longevity.
How often should I rotate my tires?
Tire rotation is crucial for even tread wear and extended tire life. Most manufacturers and experts suggest rotating tires every 5,000 to 8,000 miles. This practice helps maintain tire performance, safety, and longevity. If you're unsure about the right rotation schedule or notice unusual wear, consult your automotive technician for personalized advice based on your specific vehicle and driving habits.
How often should I get my wheels aligned?
Wheel alignment is important for optimal handling, steering response, tire wear, and fuel efficiency. Generally, you should consider alignment after buying new tires, every 6,000 to 12,000 miles, after hitting significant obstacles like potholes or curbs, when noticing uneven tire wear, or after suspension repairs. These guidelines help ensure your vehicle's wheels are correctly aligned with each other and the road surface.
How often should I have my air filters replaced?
Air filter replacement frequency varies based on filter type and driving conditions. Typically, it's recommended to replace them every 12,000 to 15,000 miles or at least annually. Regular replacement is essential for maintaining engine performance, fuel efficiency, and interior air quality. If you're unsure about your filters' status, it's advisable to have them checked during your next service appointment.
How often should I replace my wiper blades?
For optimal visibility and safety, especially during inclement weather, it's advisable to replace your wiper blades every 6 to 12 months. This recommendation applies regardless of their apparent condition to ensure they continue to clear your windshield effectively without streaking or skipping.
How do I know when to change my transmission fluid?
Transmission fluid change intervals vary, but manufacturers often recommend replacement every 30,000 to 60,000 miles under normal driving conditions. For more demanding situations like towing, hot climates, or frequent stop-and-go traffic, more frequent changes (every 15,000 to 30,000 miles) may be necessary. Some vehicles require a complete fluid flush or exchange as part of their maintenance schedule.
When do I replace the timing belt?
Replacing the timing belt according to manufacturer recommendations is crucial to prevent costly engine repairs and ensure reliable vehicle performance. Even if your vehicle hasn't reached the specified mileage, consider replacement if the belt is 5 to 7 years old. Often, it's cost-effective to replace the water pump simultaneously, as it's typically driven by the timing belt and can save on future labor costs.
Do you offer warranties on your services?
We provide a one-year labor warranty on our services. The warranty for parts varies depending on the manufacturer's terms.
Do you use OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts?
We use OEM parts when necessary. However, if not required, we prefer high-quality, cost-effective aftermarket parts unless the customer specifies otherwise. Aftermarket parts are generally more affordable, readily available, and offer a wider range of options.
Can you diagnose the problem if my check engine light is on?
While the check engine light doesn't pinpoint the exact issue, it does indicate a problem. Our advanced diagnostic tool can retrieve specific trouble codes, providing a starting point for identifying and resolving the underlying issue.
