My wife and I recently had a deeply disappointing experience with Camping World of Panama City during what was supposed to be the exciting purchase of a new travel trailer. What began as a months-long process filled with anticipation and preparation ended in frustration and regret. We feel compelled to share our story in hopes of encouraging greater transparency and customer care in the future.
For several months prior to our visit on September 27, 2025, we were in frequent communication with multiple Camping World sales agents regarding the purchase of a specific brand-new travel trailer. After many discussions, we reached an agreed-upon price and secured financing through our bank. We also arranged to trade in our existing trailer as part of the transaction.
Because we live more than two hours away, we made sure to coordinate carefully with our primary sales agent to ensure everything would be ready for completion upon arrival.
Upon arrival for our scheduled appointment, we were surprised to learn that the trailer had not been prepped or inspected—it was still sitting on the lot in its original condition. When we requested to see the unit, we made it clear that we would not hand over the bank check until we had conducted a full inspection and were satisfied with the trailer's condition.
During the walkthrough, we immediately noticed several issues:
• A kitchen drawer was missing.
• The black tank cap was missing.
• A section of the exterior trim was loose and protruding from the side.
These defects were concerning, especially since the same unit had been in good condition when we viewed it months earlier. While these may seem like cosmetic issues, it is not unreasonable to expect a brand-new trailer to be complete and ready for delivery at the time of purchase.
To the Service Department’s credit, they immediately began addressing our concerns. Our sales agent informed us that the missing drawer had already been ordered, a replacement black tank cap would be installed, and the exterior trim would be secured. We were advised to return in two to three hours to allow the necessary work to be completed, including several pre-arranged requests such as transferring the televisions from our old trailer to the new one.
After waiting more than five hours, we were informed that the missing drawer could not be replaced because the one available did not fit properly and had not actually been ordered for our unit. Despite these unresolved issues, the Finance Department insisted we proceed with signing the paperwork as though the sale was complete.
At this point, we began feeling pressured to finalize a transaction that was clearly incomplete. The communication between departments appeared disjointed, and transparency from the Sales Department was lacking.
After hours of waiting and mounting frustration, we made the difficult decision to terminate the purchase. The experience left us feeling misled and disappointed—especially after the significant effort of securing financing, coordinating logistics, and driving several hours with our trade-in trailer in tow.
This entire ordeal could have been avoided had the sales agent been upfront about the unit’s condition before we arrived.
While we recognize that occasional issues can arise in any large-scale operation, customer communication and honesty are critical. Unfortunately, our experience at Camping World of Panama City fell far short of the professional standards we expected based on our previous positive interactions with other locations. Instead of feeling valued as customers, we felt our time and expectations were disregarded.
We strongly urge Camping World of Panama City to improve its vehicle inspection and preparation processes before presenting units to potential buyers. Additionally, greater respect for customers’ time and honest communication about product conditions would go a long way in restoring trust and satisfaction.
