  "I was charged $518 for a 'scratch' on a side mirror that I never touched. Sixt is now using AI scanners to 'detect' damage that is invisible to the human eye. I returned the car at RSW airport to an empty lot, left the keys as instructed, and days later received a bill. The 'damage' appears to be nothing more than dirt lines or reflections, yet they charged me $250 for a repair plus an outrageous $200 'administrative fee' and $25 'appraisal fee.' This is a predatory business model. They are using technology to manufacture damage and collect high fees on minor or non-existent issues. I will never rent from Sixt again. Check your receipts and take 360-degree videos of your car, or better yet, rent from a company that still uses human beings for inspections."

  Rented with them for years. On my current reservation I prepaid. The day of pickup we arrived earlier. I went to change the start time by half an hour and was charged $200. Tried fixing it via chat and no help at all. They also now charge for an additional driver. I have 6-7 trips coming up this year and I have started to look at other car rental companies. This will be my last rental with Sixt sadly. Customer loyalty does not go a long way with them.

  The tire ran flat while driving which was not the fault of the driver. Sixt tried to charge me $600 for this. We should have been refunded the rental fees instead as there was no roadside support and Sixt was not able to provide a replacement car!

  I appreciated the direct contact with the Branch Manager regarding an incident where I received an email indicating that I was responsible for damages to the vehicle. The Branch Manager called and followed up with an email after I indicated that I was not responsible for the damages. Not often in this day and age where someone actually calls you directly to communicate with you. Very much appreciated.

  When I picked up the car at the airport I waited in line for about two hours to pick up my rental. There was four employees working but only two were actually helping customers. When I finally got to the counter I told the agent I do not want their insurance. I said it three times that I have my own that covers rentals. He added it on anyway and I didn’t know he added it. I signed paperwork under the impression I declined the insurance. The agent was speaking really fast, low and had a thick accent. When I checked my bank statement I was charged $385 more than I expected. My first call to customer service Chantel hung up on me after a 45 minute phone call. My second call dropped then I got Monique on the phone and she told me she couldn’t do anything on her end that I had to go to any budget rental location to update my contract. She found the address of the closest location to me. I flew into Fort Myers and was traveling to Key West with family so I was no longer at the location I picked up the car. I cancelled all my plans and my fishing charter so I could go to the Key West location to take care of this. They couldn’t help me because I didn’t get my car from that location. The woman was very nice and to the point and game me a different customer service number to call. I finally got Thabi on the phone, she was a god send and helped me right away. She was very nice and calm. She listened to me in my calm rage as I explained my experience and was able to take this charge off for me. Days of attempting to be helped and many hours on hold was fixed in a few minutes. Thank you so much Thabi! If I were to rate her customer service alone she would get 5/5 stars. She is the only reason there’s two stars and not one. Unfortunately this whole experience was stressful and Budget really needs to train their employees better because the first three people I spoke to really ruined a few days of my short trip.
