I almost always park in Lot 3 or Lot 4, which are the most accessible and reasonable options for travelers who are leaving their cars for several days. However, on December 31st, both Lot 3 and Lot 4 were closed under the excuse that they were “full,” when that clearly was not the case. There were visibly multiple available parking spaces, and I personally saw shuttles actively going in and out, dropping off passengers who already had cars parked in those lots. When I tried to speak with the booth operators to understand the situation, I was told that management was intentionally closing those lots to redirect drivers to more expensive parking options. If that is true, it is extremely disappointing and feels misleading. BDL has always treated me very well in the past, which makes this situation even more frustrating. What happened on December 31st—one of the busiest and most important travel dates of the year—felt like a deliberate attempt to push travelers into higher-priced parking. Unfortunately, it comes across as a lack of transparency and trust, and I hope airport management seriously reviews this practice.
