This was the worst car buying experience I’ve ever had. Save yourself, and go elsewhere. Buckle up, because this is lengthy, and it’s not even all of the details.
We were told after signing paperwork the vehicle had had a lot of top end work done on it. Gary mentioned that evening to use the warranty for anything that comes up. Red flags one and two.
The check engine light came on literally the next day. After letting Alfred Automotive know the check engine light was on the following day , Gary told us to try the mechanic he used on it. We opted to try our mechanic first since their mechanic clearly didn’t catch something. Our mechanic said it needed a new engine, but wasn’t able to do all needed for a replacement. We tried Gary’s mechanic, he replaced an ignition coil, which got the light off. But again, within a few days of driving, the check engine light was on.
We’ve had a lot of back and forth trying to get assistance the first two months of owning the vehicle. Initially, Gary told us he’d talk with the warranty company on our behalf if they deny the claim. Once he had our trade in towed, he stopped talking to us. We’ve now had three mechanics aside from the one Alfred Automotive uses tell us it needs a new engine. The most recent identified that the engine majorly overheated at some point and RTV & copper seal has been used on the cylinder head gaskets as a bandaid. The warranty company is denying the claim due to an “improper fix”, which was done prior to our purchase and not disclosed to us.
We’ve now had to escalate the repair issues with the financier to see if we can get a response out of Alfred Automotive. Aside from these issues, we’ve informed Gary three or four times now that we’ve yet to receive registration info on the car and asked for status on that. We’ve had no response to those requests, either. There have been a total of one phone call and six emails go unanswered from the dealership.
