I have been taking my cars to Gearhead Automotive for a few years now. One car had an engine replaced, ac repaired. The second was a explorer that had injector issues and ac issues. The third was a driveshaft and engine mounts. The fourth was ac. Ray has always been upfront on pricing, and does not give any run around on what needs to be done. He has more then fair pricing. The turn around and timing has been excellent. With out Ray my family would have been on foot more than once! Thanks for everything Ray!

I was very happy with the service I received at Gearhead Auto Shop. I had a leak in my engine and the owner and mechanic took time to look my engine over and explain what was wrong and what I needed done. The next day on Christmas Eve the mechanic (Rudy) came in and fixed my truck. I recommend Gearhead Auto Shop to everybody for great service and friendly and reasonable employees. Thank you Ray.

A major issue we had was the mechanic’s lack of basic knowledge about the car. He looked at a number on the information cluster — the same screen that shows things like speed, MPG, and settings — and told us he thought the car was “stuck in 9th gear.” The car doesn’t even have 9 gears. The number he was looking at wasn’t a gear at all — it was just the page number of the information display. That level of misunderstanding from someone who’s supposed to be a professional was honestly shocking. It made it very clear that they had no idea what they were looking at, and it destroyed any confidence we had in their ability to diagnose or repair anything. I would seriously recommend finding a mechanic who actually understands the vehicles they work on.

We also had a terrible experience with their diagnosis. They told us the car only had two options: sell it to a junkyard for $500 or pay for a brand-new transmission — and this is coming from a shop that claims to specialize in transmissions. Turns out the car did not need a new transmission at all. Their diagnosis was completely wrong, and if we had believed them, we would have either thrown away a perfectly good car or spent thousands for no reason. Being told something that serious by a “specialist” is alarming, especially when it wasn’t true. It feels like either they didn’t know what they were doing or they were trying to push an unnecessary, extremely expensive repair.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at this shop. We brought our car in for a specific problem, and instead of diagnosing the actual issue, they admitted they didn’t know what was wrong. They ended up “fixing” something unrelated, charged us almost $900, and the problem wasn’t solved at all. The car was still unsafe to drive when we picked it up. We paid a huge amount of money for a repair that didn’t address the issue, and we were basically left in the same (dangerous) situation we came in with. When you take your car to a mechanic, you expect honesty, proper diagnosis, and safety. We got none of that here. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before trusting this shop with anything serious.
