Seems to be deteriorating in quality in the last few months. Until around early fall '25 this was one of the best airport lounges in the country. But on our last two visits, attitude seems to be going south. And there's now a black curtain in place of the grab & go section, with those grab & go food items now moved to the hot buffet area - so less of the hot food. They've also taken away the ice dispensers - so if you want ice in your soda you have to wait in line at the bar for the bartender to get some for you. Seat cushioning is becoming threadbare. Bathroom design has always been bad. There are only four bathrooms, and there's no system for how to wait in line for those when things get busy (which they usually are these days).
We're not happy about the access changes coming Feb 1 (my wife will now have to pay $45 to come into the lounge with me as the cardholder), but hopefully those will help alleviate some of the crowding issues that so many talk about.
But the degradation of food/service is my primary concern.

Moldy shower curtain!
Check-in was easy since the lounge is right next to the tram. As soon as I landed, I added my name to the waitlist and was able to get in on time.
Upon arriving, I also added my name for a shower and was able to take one right away. The room itself was clean and modern, but the shower curtain had mold. I didn’t notice this until I was already undressed. After a full day of traveling with one more flight ahead, I decided to use it anyway, since getting a different room would have required going all the way back up to guest services because the rooms are keypad-locked. Unfortunately, it didn’t stop there—the water never warmed up, so I ended up taking an ice-cold shower. I had planned to wash my hair but skipped it because of the temperature.
Afterward, I grabbed some food and tried the relaxation pod. The food was okay—small, portioned plates, but plenty of pre-packaged options to take along.
On my way out, I did inform the front desk of the moldy curtain and they said they’d send someone change it.
The experience overall felt elevated, but the mold really set the tone. Had I skipped the shower, I probably would have rated it higher, but ultimately, if they’re neglecting something as basic as a shower curtain, it makes me question the overall cleanliness of the space.

Worst service, JASMINE is the worst. Our flight was cancelled and we got rescheduled to a flight 5 hours later. I went to the lounge and at she First said couldn’t check us in because we didn’t have assigned seats in our boarding pass. I went to another terminal, paid to get assigned seats. Come back and she tells us they can’t check us in because our flight is after more than 3 hours. Never had these issues with Amex lounges. Cancelled my venture X after this, Amex is way way better.

The Capital One Lounge at DFW has been a genuinely nice space. It offers comfortable seating, good amenities, and a much needed alternative to the usual airport chaos. A couple years ago it was a great place to relax before flights.
Unfortunately, the ability to add four authorized users and guests has clearly been abused. The lounge has become overrun at peak times with large families and groups, which has led to crowding, noise, and a loss of the peaceful environment it once offered. It’s easy to understand why Capital One is revising the policy to restore a better experience for all guests.
That said, I believe Venture X cardholders should still be allowed to bring their spouses into the lounge without having to pay an authorized user fee. Keeping a reasonable guest benefit for primary cardholders — especially partners traveling together and sharing finances — would help preserve value while addressing the overcrowding issues. I wouldn't mind paying a small fee for children.

Unfortunately this lounge has become a victim of its' own success. Definitely do not waste your time here.
While I don't frequent DFW often, the few times I have the lounge had at least a 1/2hr wait. I arrived at 5am since my 7hr flight just arrived. Even though it was 5am, I admit I was looking forward to a drink to settle down. Unfortunately the bar was closed, which was disappointing but understandable. The lounge was already over 1/2 full with lots of kids running around and crying. The bathrooms definitely need a queuing system. I think there are 3 or 4 individual bathrooms and people start lining up on the edges. I didn't see anyone waiting and as someone left one of the rooms I grabbed the door and then someone pops out from the far end towards the entrance and aggressively says hey there's a line here! I was like sorry I didn't see. Anyway, if one line starts at either end, during busy times a second line will form on the other end and people will be 'cutting'. I'm surprised fights haven't broken out over this. The bananas were already over ripe. They didn't look too bad but upon grabbing a few, they were extremely mushy. I tried one and it was not edible. It was so ripe that by the end of the day, I would say they would be liquefied. Also, at 5am there was an hr wait for the shower. When my turn finally came, I turned it on full blast, got undressed, and headed to the shower. Of course it only had cold water. I let it run several more minutes and no change. That was the last straw so I dressed as quickly as possible and left! They should just dump the shower/s and convert it to a toilet so with the existing toilet they could add two more public toilets. That would be far more useful than a shower, which is rarely available.
Outside of that, the cooked food as usual was excellent.
