My granddaughter is in the intro class, and loves it. She tells everyone she is going to ballet, and just did her first recital. Great studio, and the recital was amazing.

At PADA your child will be in small classes and receive the attention they deserve. They also learn from passionate professionals not student’s, so they learn proper technique. I’ve had my daughters at three studios and we found our home here.
Frequently Asked Questions About Pennsylvania Academy of Dance Arts
At what age can my child start dancing?
We offer introductory classes for children as young as three years old. Our goal is to introduce dance to children at the earliest appropriate age. Please note that all students must be fully potty trained before enrolling in our classes.
Can my child try out a class before we register?
Yes, we encourage prospective students to participate in a complimentary trial class. This allows both you and your child to experience our studio firsthand. To arrange a free lesson, studio tour, and meeting, please contact us at info@padancearts.com. We look forward to welcoming you to our dance community.
When does your dance season begin?
Our dance season commences after Labor Day in September and concludes with our year-end performance in mid-June. Students remain in their assigned class level throughout the season. At the end of each season, we evaluate dancers to provide class recommendations for the following September. Additionally, we offer a six-week summer program in July and August for all skill levels. Please contact us for more information about our class offerings, including modern dance.
Are parents or other family allowed in the classroom during a dance class?
To maintain focus and discipline, only students and instructors are permitted in the classroom during dance lessons. This environment allows dancers to concentrate on their instructor and technique without distractions. Occasionally, instructors may invite parents to observe the end of a class to witness their child's progress.
How can I help my child prepare for the best dance experience?
To ensure a positive dance experience, we recommend discussing proper classroom behavior with your child. This includes following instructions, listening to the teacher, refraining from running or shouting, and respecting personal space. It's normal for new dancers to take three to four weeks to adjust to the class routine. Our aim is to foster enthusiasm for dance in a supportive environment. If your child experiences difficulties, we will work with you to determine the best course of action.
What does my child need to wear to class?
Proper attire is essential for dance instruction. Instructors must be able to observe body alignment to provide accurate corrections. Therefore, loose clothing, jeans, sweatshirts, and street wear are not appropriate for dance classes. We require all students to wear dance-specific attire such as leotards and tights, or form-fitting athletic wear. Upon enrollment, you will receive our detailed dress code and shoe requirements.
When will my child perform?
We provide two performance opportunities each season. Our ballet classes participate in a December ballet production, while all dance styles are showcased in our June production. These events offer valuable opportunities for dancers to demonstrate the skills they've acquired throughout the year.
Do you have a competition team?
Yes, we offer a competition program for dancers interested in competitive performance. Auditions for our competition team are held each May for the upcoming season. This program requires a higher level of time and financial commitment, as team members have additional class and rehearsal requirements. Our team participates in four to five events per season, competing in group dances, solos, duos, and trios. For more information about our competition team or other classes like jazz, please contact us at info@padancearts.com.
What kind of payments do I have to make?
Our fee structure includes a per-family registration fee due at enrollment and at the start of each fall season. Class tuition is calculated for the entire season and divided into nine monthly payments from September through May. Production fees cover costumes, accessories, and props for each show. Additional fees apply for competition team members. Please contact us for more information about our fee structure and class offerings, including tap dance classes.
How do I know which class level to select?
To ensure appropriate placement, we recommend scheduling a free trial class. Our instructors will assess your child's skill level and recommend the most suitable class. We do not base placement solely on age, as each dancer progresses at their own pace. Students typically spend more than one year at a particular level before advancing. Our goal is to create an environment where dancers are challenged yet comfortable, promoting continuous growth and enthusiasm. Please contact us to learn more about our class options, including hip hop.
