In October 1971, Wichita Tractor Co. originally Wichita Ford Tractor started its operation on Tractor Row in west Wichita by the founders, Paddy and Sylvia McCullough. The original business began with the sales and service of Ford Tractors and Agricultural Equipment for both the light industrial and governmental markets in South Central Kansas. It wasn't long before the second generation, two sons Clayton and Don, became an integral part of the work force and are now managing the business. Currently, the third generation is an important part of the work force bringing the total cumulative active years of the McCullough family to well over 100 years. There have been many changes in the construction & hay equipment business since that October day in 1971. The equipment has become more sophisticated and complex. In years past a good employee needed little formal education in order to be effective in the industry. But today’s sales, parts, and service technicians are constantly updating their expertise, knowledge, and skills in order to perform efficiently with the current state of design of products that are prevalent in the industry. It is a constant challenge to keep all personnel ahead of the curve.
