  Frustrating experience despite great customer service at the start. I recently rented equipment from United Rentals – Flooring and Facility Solutions for a concrete grinding project. Before renting, I called to ask which machines would work best, and Joe did a great job helping me build the full list of equipment I’d need. He was very knowledgeable and friendly, and the rest of the staff at pickup were also professional. The total rental cost was over $3,000, but I decided to go with it since they built the setup for me and assured me it would handle the job. Unfortunately, things went downhill once I started the project. After about 9 hours of machine use, the Walk-Behind Concrete Grinder I rented began having serious issues — the disc attachments at the bottom kept coming loose. I was never told there was a 24-hour support line, so I tried fixing it myself to save the job. I went to several stores looking for replacement parts, found a matching metric bolt and lock nut, and did my best to make it work. Still, the attachments kept coming loose, and the machine became useless. I lost a lot of time and money trying to troubleshoot something that shouldn’t have happened in the first place. When I returned the equipment, Doug was very polite and professional. He said the manager would inspect the machine and get back to me. Later, Doug called to let me know the manager decided not to refund anything—except for the unused blades. After spending over $3,000 and losing valuable time on a project because of a faulty machine, this was extremely disappointing. I’ve always trusted United Rentals as my go-to equipment source and even recommended them to others, but this experience completely changed that. The lack of fairness and unwillingness to stand behind their equipment speaks volumes. I expected a company of this size to value its customers and handle situations like this with more integrity. Unfortunately, after this, I can’t see myself returning.

  The equipment I rented broke down within 2 hours of starting the job. I returned 2 brand new blades expecting a $130 return credit, but staff said they can't find those blades.

  I want to make a correction on the last review for United Rentals. After speaking with Joe, and the manager, Patrick, we were able to resolve a total misunderstanding in communication and I want to take full responsibility for the misunderstanding. Patrick was very compasionate and professional. I was very pleased to speak with him and resolve a terrible misunderstanding. The service was very satisfactory and due to my lack of experience with the machine I rented and the work I needed to be done, Patrick demonstrated his professionalism and provided me with resources to get more experience with doing certain projects and renting the right equipment. I want to thank Patrick and Joe for being understanding, kind and reasonable for being true gentlemen and helping me out. I will be doing business again in the future with United Rentals. Please extend my apologies to you guys. Thank you!!
